ERP systems primarily revolve around processes, and there is an ongoing debate about the extent to which an ERP system should encompass these processes. This is where the distinction between core and non-core processes comes into play. Core processes are typically integrated into the ERP system, while non-core processes may or may not be included. One of the most universally essential core processes in any ERP discussion is the order-to-cash process. It's worth noting that for certain industries, the order-to-cash concept might seem perplexing, especially if they don't handle traditional orders. However, regardless of whether an organization processes orders or not, the order-to-cash process remains critically important.
